Soil Information Systems

The Soil Information System has all the information on quality and characteristics of soils pertaining to particular regions/District/sub district/village management zones. The Crop Suitability and fertility information apart from the Texture, erosion, drainage, Base saturation, Taxonomic classification are stored in the system and the critical advisory information is disseminated through call centres and the Soil Doctors.

The area under salinity is increasing due to rising sea levels and upward flow of salts due to increasing temperatures. Quality Monitoring System for problem soils which provides better reclamability measures at farmer’s plot level.

Post reclamation monitoring of soil quality, water table depth fluctuation, Ground water quality and floral, faunal and soil microbial biodiversity.
